Customer Stories: 5 Environmental Ltd

5 Environmental Ltd specialises in offering core services, such as commercial drainage, pump services, gas, and plumbing, to clients in the commercial sector. We spoke to Danny Short, one of the co-founders of 5 Environmental, about how they started the company, what they are currently working on, and what they like about being based at The Nucleus.

1. How did you start your company?

We have been based The Nucleus for just over a year now and are continuing to develop and grow our business here. Myself and Kevin had a heating and plumbing business and our close friends Joe and Stuart ran a haulage company and Daniel had a maintenance business. So we decided to join forces, which meant we could capitalise on our knowledge, connections giving us greater power to grow faster.

2. What are you working on at the moment?

We currently are delivering commercial reactive maintenance and drainage contracts for some of the well-known food chains, like Five Guys and Giraffe up and down the country. We also have emergency tankers available to respond to pub groups, large offices, lift companies and schools.

3. What do you like about The Nucleus?

We first came across The Nucleus when we used the meeting room facilities to conduct client meetings. We were impressed with the centre and that’s when we decided that basing our business here would provide us with the professional environment we wanted for the business. It has also provided us with several business opportunities including collaborating with The Nucleus. This has led to us expanding our offices here recently.

4. What projects/ambitions do you have for the future of your company?

We have made significant investment in our operational scale and now have 18 vans, 4 tankers and are still growing our resources. Our focus now is to spend time on the business rather than in the business. We want to build out the entire facilities package by adding elements such as electrical maintenance which we know is what customers really want and to work more closely with tier 1 companies.
